Plumbers in Centennial Hills, NV

Centennial Hills is the northwest growth area of the City of Las Vegas, built out largely from the late 1990s onward and continuing since. It sits at a higher elevation than the valley floor.

The housing is young enough that failing pipe is uncommon, and the work concentrates on equipment: heaters, softeners and pressure.

What is different about plumbing in Centennial Hills

A housing stock that ages together

Because so much of the area went up in a compressed window, equipment reaches end of life across whole neighborhoods at once. Water heaters installed with these homes have been passing their rated life in waves, and original softeners are hitting resin replacement age at the same time.

Elevation and pressure

Higher ground in the northwest can behave differently on supply pressure than the valley floor. A failing pressure regulator shows up as pressure that is far too high or too low across the whole house, and high pressure quietly shortens the life of the water heater and every fixture in the building.

Permits in Centennial Hills

Issuing office: City of Las Vegas Department of Building and Safety. Centennial Hills sits inside the City of Las Vegas, so permits go through the city building department rather than Clark County.

• Homes inside the City of Las Vegas, the City of North Las Vegas or the City of Henderson permit through their own building departments, not through the county. Which office you deal with depends on the street, not the mailing address. (City of Las Vegas, Department of Building and Safety)
• Installing a water conditioning system in unincorporated Clark County requires a permit and an inspection, whether a homeowner does the work or a company does. (Clark County Department of Building and Fire Prevention)

Hard water in Centennial Hills

Every home in the valley receives the same very hard municipal supply, so the scale problems are the same in Centennial Hills as everywhere else in Clark County.

• Las Vegas tap water is published at 280 parts per million as calcium carbonate, which works out to about 16 grains per gallon. (Las Vegas Valley Water District, Water Quality Summary)
• Sixteen grains per gallon is the figure to dial into a water softener for most of the valley. (Las Vegas Valley Water District, Water Quality Summary)

That is why water softener installation, repair, replacement and maintenance are among the most requested services here, on all makes and models.
