Drain cleaning in Las Vegas, NV
Kitchen, bath, shower and main line: cleared properly rather than poked at.
A slow drain is a warning. A clogged drain is the same problem after you ignored the warning. Either way the fix is to get the line actually clear, not to punch a hole through the middle of a blockage so it drains for a fortnight.
Where the clog is tells you a lot about what it is made of, and that determines whether the right tool is a cable machine, a jetter, or a camera first.
What is usually in the line
- Kitchen: grease and cooking fat, which cools and coats the pipe wall, plus food solids and disposal debris
- Bathroom sink: toothpaste, soap scum and hair bound together
- Shower and tub: hair, almost always, packed against the trap or the strainer
- Toilet: wipes that were labelled flushable and are not, plus paper volume and the occasional toy
- Main line: roots, collapsed or offset pipe, scale, or years of everything above
One drain or all of them
This is the question that separates a twenty minute job from a serious one. If a single fixture is slow, the clog is local to that branch. If several fixtures back up together, especially on the lowest level, the problem is in the main line and clearing the sink will not touch it.
A classic main line tell is a toilet that bubbles or a shower that backs up when the washing machine drains. That is water looking for the nearest escape because the main cannot take the volume.
On chemical drain cleaners
Caustic drain chemicals are worth a word of caution. They frequently do not clear the blockage, they sit in the trap as a hot caustic pool, and the plumber who opens that line afterwards gets it on their hands and arms.
They also attack older pipe and rubber gaskets. If you have already poured some in, say so when you call. It genuinely changes how the job is approached and it is a safety issue, not a judgement.

Frequently asked questions
How often should drains be cleaned?
There is no universal interval for a home. If a particular line clogs more than about once a year, that is the pipe telling you something structural is going on, and a camera run is cheaper than clearing it forever.
Will snaking damage my pipes?
Used correctly on sound pipe, no. On old, corroded or already-cracked pipe a cable can find the weak spot, which is one reason a camera inspection first is sensible on an older home.
Why does my drain clog again a month later?
Usually because the line was opened rather than cleaned. Cabling can punch through a grease plug and leave the walls coated, so it narrows straight back up. Jetting scours the pipe wall, which is why it lasts longer on grease.
