Hydro jetting in Las Vegas and Clark County

Hydro jetting runs a high pressure hose down the line with a nozzle that fires water backwards and forwards at once. The forward jet cuts the blockage, the rear jets pull the hose along and scrub the pipe wall as it goes.

The distinction from cabling matters: a cable makes a hole through the middle of a blockage, a jetter takes the pipe back to its full diameter.

When jetting is the right tool

• Grease-laden kitchen and restaurant lines
• Lines that clog again within weeks of being cabled
• Root intrusion, where a cutting head clears the roots and the jet flushes the debris out
• Scale and mineral buildup narrowing an older line
• Sand, silt or construction debris in a line
• Commercial lines on a preventive maintenance schedule

When it is not

Jetting is not universally safe. Old, cracked, corroded or already-collapsed pipe can be damaged by high pressure, and a jetter will find a weak Orangeburg or badly corroded cast iron line rather than fix it.

That is why a camera run before jetting is normal practice on an older home. A plumber who wants to look at the line first is being careful, not padding the job.
